# Privacy Policy **Last updated: October 6, 2026** Taste Layer, Inc. ("Taste Layer," "Pattern," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. It applies to our website, mobile services, SMS/text messaging service, and related features (the "Service"). --- ## 1. Information we collect **Information you give us** - **Contact information**, primarily your phone number, and optionally your name and email. - **Style inspiration and other content** you send us by text or upload, including images, links, product references, and descriptions of what you like. - **Messages** you exchange with us, including the content of your texts and in-app conversations. - **Account and preference information**, such as sizes, favorite brands, saved items, and settings. **Information we collect automatically** - **Usage data**, such as the items and brands you view, tap, save, and dwell on. This is the core signal we use to learn your taste. - **Device and technical data**, such as IP address, device type, browser, and app version. - **Cookies and similar technologies** (see Section 6). **Information from third parties** - Merchants, brands, analytics providers, and our messaging and authentication vendors may share limited information with us consistent with their own policies and your permissions — for example, confirming that a text was delivered or a phone number was verified. ## 2. How we use your information We use your information to: - **Build your personalized feed and recommendations**, by analyzing your activity and the inspiration you send us using automated and machine-learning systems. We use this data to personalize your own experience — we do not use your photos or messages to train general-purpose models or improve the Service for other users. - **Operate the text messaging service**, including sending you recommendations and account-related updates. - **Help you discover and reach products**, including routing you to the Merchant's site when you want to buy something. - **Improve the Service**, including fixing bugs and understanding how features are used in the aggregate. - **Communicate with you**, respond to requests, and provide customer support. - **Protect the Service**, detect fraud and abuse, and comply with legal obligations. ## 3. Text messages When you provide your phone number and opt in, you consent to receive recurring text messages from us as described in our Terms of Service. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. You can opt out of messages at any time by replying **STOP**, and reply **HELP** for help. We do **not** sell or share your phone number or SMS consent with third parties for their own marketing. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third parties except the vendors that help us deliver the messaging service itself. ## 4. How we share your information We share information only as described here: - **Service providers** who work on our behalf (hosting, messaging delivery, phone verification, analytics, customer support) under contracts that limit their use of the data. - **Merchants and brands**, only as needed to route you to a purchase or inquiry you initiate — for example, when you tap through to buy an item on a brand's site. - **Legal and safety**, when required by law or to protect rights, safety, and the integrity of the Service. - **Business transfers**, in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy. We do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not use third-party advertising cookies or trackers on the Service. ## 5. How long we keep information We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, and afterward as required to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. You can request deletion as described in Section 7. ## 6. Cookies and tracking We use essential cookies and similar technologies to run the Service and remember your preferences (for example, keeping you signed in). We may also use basic first-party analytics to understand how the Service is used. We do not use the Service to serve third-party targeted advertising. ## 7. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. ## 8. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA. **EEA/UK residents (GDPR), if applicable:** You have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Our legal bases for processing include your consent, our performance of a contract with you, and our legitimate interests in operating and improving the Service. We will verify your request as required by law before acting on it, and you may use an authorized agent where permitted by law. ## 9. Children's privacy The Service is not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us at julia@shoppattern.co and we will delete it. ## 10. International users We are based in the United States and process information there. If you access the Service from outside the United States, you understand your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States, which may have different data protection laws than your country. ## 11. Third-party links and brands The Service features and links to third-party brands and sites we do not control. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, not this one. ## 12. Changes to this Policy We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.
